What an incredible weekend at Mundaring! We introduced three distinct layouts this year—demonstrating our commitment to making disc golf both competitive and approachable for all. A huge thanks to Blake Houston, who not only took the win in MPO but also played a key role in tuning our Division 1 & 2 layouts. His insights helped us fine-tune each hole so that top-tier players felt challenged while still keeping the course manageable for emerging talent. A big thanks also to Jo McCamish, Leah Manning and Sue Summers who tested the Division 3 layout and provided their expertise to create an inclusive and enjoyable course for F- and MA4-division players.
We also rolled out a new partnership with Café Mojo for player lunches—because disc golfers play better when they’re well-fed! Café Mojo provided a delicious spread, and it was a real treat to offer everyone quality meals right on site.
Course Layout Highlights
- Female/MA4 Layout: Developed in collaboration with our amazing female players, who helped us refine tee positions and pars so newer players and women get a fair yet challenging experience.
- “World” Layout Adjustments: We tweaked hole positions to push Mundaring closer to full ADGC readiness. The feedback from our local pros and amateurs was invaluable in striking a balance between difficulty and playability.
Standout Performances
- 1000+ Rated Round: Blake Houston crushed a 1028-rated opener in MPO, paving the way to his -16 finish—a testament to both his skill and the thoughtful layout design he helped shape.
- Leah Manning (MA3): Secured 3rd place in a mixed division. Leah’s final score of +13 was enough to see her on the podium among the men—amazing representation and skill!
- Rachel Bunting (FA3): Outscored all other female competitors, including FP40, in her very first tournament, marking her as a rising star.
- Newcomers in MA4: A warm welcome to Craig Morgan, Boyd Graham, and Adam Walter—we’re thrilled you decided to jump in and join the fun!
- 7 Female Competitors: This event saw seven women tee it up across various divisions, showcasing just how fast women’s disc golf is growing at Mundaring.
And if that’s not enough star power, we also had Mark Hauser (#1) and Kim Holmes (#2) from the 2024 PDGA Masters Disc Golf World Championships competing in MA50. Having world-class Masters players on the course—alongside first-timers—really highlights the inclusivity and versatility that Mundaring aims to deliver.
A special Thank You to John Doncon for supporting Disc Golf and Mundaring Sporting Club, and being part of our closing ceremonies.
