When it all started
The course was designed by DiscGolfPark’s Chris Finn, with input from Chris Himing on holes 16 to 18. The founder of DiscGolfPark, Jussi Meresmaa also reviewed and approved the design. Beginner tees and Pro level tees were included, to help introduce new people to the sport as well as challenge current players.
The official opening was April 2014 & was sponsored by The Frisbee Shop to help development of courses on public arenas in Perth. This was also the first approval since 1985 for a public course in Western Australia, along with being the first championship level 18-hole course in WA.
Mundaring disc golf course is the only permanent Disc Golf Major Layout in the world and was home of the first event above a PDGA B Tier in the Southern Hemisphere. If that wasn’t impressive enough, it went straight to a Major status and was the host for both PDGA Major and Disc Golf World Tour events. The Aussie Opens brought along disc golf superstars such as Paul McBeth, Eagle McMahon & Ricky Wysocki. Take a look at the event footage from Aussie Open 2015 and Aussie Open 2017.
