Getting started with disc golf

We are excited to have you on board. Here are some tips to help you get started.

Equipment

For any league day or competition you will need:

  1. Bring your own discs – check out local retailers and other Australian online stores:
  2. Mini disc marker – to mark your lie
  3. Pencil – for scoring
  4. Water & snacks
  5. PDGA membership

Understanding the rules

We are happy to run you through the rules of the game on the day – but it definitely helps that you understand the general rules beforehand. See the official rules of disc golf for the most up-to-date rules.

League Days

Generally speaking, the third Sunday of each month between April to March we run a local competition at Mundaring disc golf course. We mix up the pro tee and beginner tee days and specify this before each League Day as well as the start time (which is typically 8:30am to 9:30am starts).

Costs are $10 per player. Come down at the specified registration time so that our team can put you on a scorecard to play.

To confirm the schedule for league days see the events page.

Tournaments

Outside of League Days, the Mundaring Disc Golf also runs some bigger tournaments. Typically you will need to register weeks in advance with specified registration fees.

Tournaments are split into divisions which are based on your disc golf rating. If you are unsure of your skill level based on these ratings, just enter in the Novice (MA4) division and give it a go! Each division will have a winner and generally a prize.

For more details, see the event descriptions of each competition and see the events page and check out our Facebook page for announcements.
