Recap
This past weekend Mundaring played host to the 5th edition of the Mundilorian event series, the long awaited date alignment for “May the Fourth”. A return to an old format saw all players competing on the same layout, providing a fun mix of holes that gave lower division players an opportunity to compare their results to the top divisions, who competed on the same track. A total of 55 players made the early drive up the hill on Sunday morning to take on 2 rounds of 20 holes (1 round for juniors) to battle for points on both the ADG and WA tour along with some awesome prizes thanks to Disc Golf Warehouse. Make sure to check them out for your local disc golf needs.

Our amateur players were greeted by their players packs upon registration, saving anyone who left their mini on the kitchen bench and providing some extra useful chalk bags to help players push through the short showers early in the second round. Make sure to leave ratings and reviews on the facebook pages for Flying Fox Disc Golf and RPM Discs NZ to help us thank them for their support of this event.

Also a shoutout to Caxton Cooperative for the awesome “Mando” mandos that added a super fun feel to the course. These will be on course for a little while longer for those of you who enjoy extra emotional torment. Thanks also to Stones Promotions for their extra speedy work in organising trophy plaques, we really appreciate your consistent support.

Thanking the team
I would like to personally thank all the hard work of Ken Summers, Gary Paul, Jasmin Barr, Jacob Davies, Aiden Ditewig, Leah Manning and of course my all star assistant Sue Summers for all of the effort involved in the running of this event. From course preparations, to event planning, trophy construction, mandatory signage outsourcing, on-course photography, operating the bar, tournament day operations, course pack away and many of the other things that happen behind the scenes. Without these people assisting in their own ways we wouldn’t have had the smooth day of disc golf that we were all able to enjoy, so a massive thank you to all involved.
Event Results
Tight Battles around the grounds saw 2 strokes or less separating 1st and 2nd in 6 of our divisions. MPO was especially exciting with the machine gun Alex Kynaston’s -17 the winning score, Jacob Davies’ -16 and Rob Lim’s -15 chasing in 2nd and 3rd were so close to stopping AK47’s 4th PDGA event win on the bounce, though he is proving a tough battle for all challengers on seemingly every course. MA3 finished with a tie at +5 between Gary Paul and Steve Kirk, which Steve was able to win after the first playoff hole. Arguably the most notable moment of the day was when MA40 player Lee Baker ACED the temporary H12a, 87m par 3, during round 2. Congratulations on the tournament ace mate, a shot to remember.

Final Words from your TD
I just wanted to finish by thanking all our players and supporters for last weekend’s event. We at Mundaring are looking at it as a large success which is only possible with our fantastic disc golf community. I look forward to doing this all again for the Icebreaker in July, and hopefully some cool new projects around summer… watch this space.
I have spoken.
